The Little Known Drivers of Easter: We Know This Can’t Happen But…

Pilate and his centurion, Maximus, served together as young officer and legionary. A few months after Passover, and with Maximus retiring soon, Pilate arranges a dinner, at his palace by the coast, to introduce him to useful people. As they enjoy a drink together before the meal Maximus mentions the latest rumour in Jerusalem.  Jesus’ disciples are claiming their rabbi rose from the dead. Thousands of Hebrews are now worshipping “The Risen Lord”.

The Little Known Drivers of Easter: Interrogation Before Caiaphas

If Jesus is going before Pilate on Friday morning accused of trying to start a rebellion against Rome there needs to be some evidence. Jesus is interrogated through the early hours of Friday.  There is testimony that he would destroy and rebuild the Temple in three days. That might convince Pilate that Jesus is completely insane but it doesn’t suggest he’s a threat to Rome. Meanwhile Caiaphas wants to know exactly who and what Jesus really is.
